Abdominal Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome (ACNES) is one of the now recognized causes of chronic abdominal pain. It remains an overwhelmingly underdiagnosed condition and consequently not readily managed or recognised, often characterised by patients presenting with a severe, oftentimes refractory-enough to be felt from just lateral next in line across midline – which can point directly at its location on abdomen where it begins near rib cage as well between lower thoracoabdominal intercostal nerve branches that are trapped underneath rectus abdominis muscle fibers; theorized some time ago after observing people who had suffered great physical trauma: The trapping mechanism seems pretty straightforward
