After ejaculation, the male experiences a short period of desensitization before he begins to become sensitive once again.
In contrast, the clitoris is composed mostly of erectile tissue and nerve endings, which means that there is very little muscle involved in its response to erotic stimulation. In fact, the only involuntary responses evoked by physical contact come from the blood vessels located near the external opening of the organ. As a result, the clitoris does not exhibit any significant degree of desensitization following orgasm. Since the clitoris lacks an internal muscular pump like the one found in the male erection, the blood flow must travel through the tissues surrounding the external opening of the organ. Because of this, the clitoral organ becomes engorged with blood much quicker than occurs in the case of the male penis, thus causing the sensation of being turned on more intensely.

Orgasm Differences Between Men And Women
Women also differ from men in terms of how they achieve orgasm.
